I am 100% sure, that when Mark Zuckerberg thought up the idea of Facebook, Kwanzaa never came up, but what ever the intentions, we are the beneficiaries of the technology.
Today is the first day of Kwanzaa, Umoja which means Unity that stresses the importance of togetherness for the
family and the community, which is reflected in the African saying, "I
am We," or "I am because We are.". This is not just a little like what we do on Facebook, it's all of what we do on Facebook. Although we are not physically in the same room, this technology creates a unique possibility of practicing Umoja (unity).
So get out there Post, Share, Like on your social network and you will be Umojaing with the world.
